Through utilizing an abundance of discarded building materials and relieving them of their former utility the work aims to draw out a visceral language of tactility, care, and rest so that they might breathe, stretch out and sigh. Placed within the gallery’s severe mash of cinderblock, bare plywood, and painted drywall, these queerly coded works invite closer observation of easily overlooked material tonalities and relationships. Evoking a pause in the daily cycle of light, the crepuscular space of the gallery allows for an extended coming to and drifting from, offering bi-directional observations of past and future horizons through a softer, more empathetic lens.
